Pre-Order JASS Companion I

For all of those who don’t know, JASS is a club night started by ATL producer Time Wharp (aka Patrick Loggins), which is centered on a juxtaposition of forward thinking bass music, jazz, hip-hop, and house. JASS has played host to artists such as Knxwledge, Jonwayne, Kuhn, Sir Froderick, Obey City, Howse, RAJA, DEO, Sonnymoon, The Range, Paolo Xz , Ohbliv, Wheez-ie and many more. March 20th will mark the first release/compilation from JASS as a label and will feature unreleased tracks from ten up-and-coming East Coast producers. Make sure to stay up to date with further JASS releases and events through their website and pre-order Companion I on the JASS Bandcamp. Machinedrum Releases Nastyfuckk EP (from out of fucking nowhere)

There’s something special about Machinedrum’s epic creative output in the last year or so. Some critics think his diversity is a distraction; an unfocused barrage of ideas that leave the listener confused. Of course, one would only have to actually listen to his music in the appropriate environment (anywhere), to recognize the underlying essence that permeates every track, but maybe that’s just beyond most people with a deadline.

In an era constantly pigeonholing artists and movements, Machinedrum is a refreshing inspiration and guide for all who wish to navigate this overly saturated world, where styles are born and die within a matter of months. As a tastemaker of sorts (and pioneer), I’d highly recommend copping anything and everything he makes or remixes, as it serves as a sort of benchmark for what music will be popular months (sometimes years) later. One only has to follow his twitter for seemingly monthly releases that rival iOS 4 software updates, the only difference is, you should buy now, every time. Buy Nastyfuckk EP here.

Below is his current release release data, which should give you an idea when you can expect the latest upgrade, either as himself, Sepulcure, or Dream Continuum. Let’s just marvel at it (keep in mind, dudes been around since ‘01, this is merely with the last 2 1/2 years):
