Sudi Wachspress, a.k.a. Spaceghost, is an Oakland-based producer that has been on our radar since the birth of The Melt. Since playing our first show, we’ve seen Spaceghost progress as an artist and are continuously intrigued by the sounds he stirs up. His music is a refreshing amalgamation of ambient swooning synths with underlying organic percussion stringing it all together. Taking influence from the likes of Boards of Canada and other pioneers, his work takes the past and successfully utilizes it in a way that is his own. Sudi’s latest release, “You’re There”, was on our favorites list of 2012, and we highly recommend that you grab it (for free) from the Astro Nautico Bandcamp. In this mix, Spaceghost only includes a couple of productions of his own, but fills out the rest with other like minded producers pushing boundaries in their respective realms, which makes for an eclectic, yet cohesive listen.
